Big news: IITs to be set up in Goa, CM said – there will be discussion on people’s demand.


New Delhi. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Sunday that the proposed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Sattari taluka of the state would be built despite opposition from local residents and all their demands would be discussed.

He said that he had visited the site in Shell-Maulim where the construction of IIT is proposed. The Chief Minister said, “We are ready to discuss the demands of the local people. The project is not over yet. The formalities for construction are going on.”

He said that under the IIT project, a police post will also be set up in the village. Officials said that people of the area have been protesting against the project at the site for the last four months and disrupting work.
